During the summer of 2012, Masters Brewery decided that it was time to try something new, to provide a new and interesting real ale experience for our customers.

And so The Woodyard was born.

Sourcing items from around neighbouring counties and the rest of the country allowed us to re-create a near authentic Victorian bar in the heart of our brewery.

The bar itself and wooden panelling that adorns the walls of the bar came from a shut down pub in Plymouth, just before it was turned into student accomodation. Our Victorian fireplace came from an old house in Chard and the mantlepiece and overmantel came from a former hotel in Okehampton. Even the hearth is made from bricks that were made locally in Taunton and Wellington that are well over 100 years old. Those bricks, aswell as the antique wooden flooring, came from the Victorian house Richard grew up in in Taunton, less than 10 miles from the brewery. The speakers in the walls came from an old theater in Edgware Road in London that we refurbished and modernised, and they are at least 90 years old. By collecting all these components we have managed to create a fantastic space and atmosphere for our customers.

There are some quality pieces in The Woodyard that really make it a fantastic establishment, our full premesis licence along with the 11 Real Ale pumps that are constantly stocked with different Beers & Ales brewed only 20 feet from the bar and warm and friendly service. What more could the beer enthusiast need?

So come visit The Woodyard and take "A trip back in time!"
